Fireguard must check many things what are some of them?
The walkie, the bullhorn, electonic devices to make sure they are not bad or frayed, fire extinguisher, sprinkler systems, trash, logs, permits, certificates. I'm sure there are others.
When must fire extinguishers be inspected?
Every six months.
When must fire extinguishers be recharged and how do you know?
Recharge when used, when required, or when the little needle points to red.
What is a class A fire and what are the charateristics of a type A fire extinguisher?
A class A fire is fueled by normal combustibles, paper, cloth, trash. These are best put out with water. The extinguishers are usually large and silver, and obviously contain water. Usually these A types of extingushers only put out a type fires.
What is a Class B fire and what puts it out?
A class B fire is one that is fueled by flammable liquids like petrolum, oil, and grease. These are best put out by things that cover the fire and allow NO oxgyen in. Things like dry chemical or foam.
What is a Class C fire and what puts it out?
A class C fire is one that is started by electricity. It is an electrical fire. Basically, just don't use water. CO2 or dry chemical. The CO2 extinguisher has a horn and the dry chem one is small and short.
What do the symbols for A, B, and C class fires look like?
A class is trash on fire, B is petrol on fire, and C is plug on fire. Bonus: K type is pan on fire.
How do you operate a fire extinguisher?
Remove pin while holding upright, stand back 20ft point extinguisher at base of fire, squeeze down on lever and sweep from side to side.
What is a sprinkler system?
A system of pipes and sprinklers connected to water supply source.
What is an automatic sprinkler system?
It is a sprinkler system that is activated by temperature. When it gets too hot the system is triggred to target the fire.

What is a standpipe system?
A standpipe system is a system of pipes and hoses. The hoses have valves on the ends of them and they can be turned on to fight a fire. Water is always in the system, it's always ready.

Must be inspected every 6 months, by FG or the maintenance company for the extinguisher. Must be recored or logged; testing date, name of person, etc. also it must be recored on the tag. It also needs to be visually inspected every day.
OS & Y valve.
The OS & Y valve contols the main water supply to the sprinkler or standpipe system. It must be always open, sometimes it is locked. It's open when the stem is raised.
Where must flammables be stored?
In a safe location free from possible comubustables.
In places of public assembly where are fireguards needed?
In places with more that 75 people. Cabarets, discos, sports arenas, concert halls, community centers.
What are panic bars?
Panic bars are on doors, needs no tricky handles! Yeah, don't lock them.
In theatres where do fireguards sit?
In the audience. Unless there is fire on stage. Then they are in the wings.
