    the sole of the foot

    the palm of the hand
  3. tranverse section
    plane that divides a structure into superior and inferior portions
  4. frontal section
    plane that divides a structure into anterior and posterior portions, pertaining to the forehead.
  5. saggaital section
    refers to the length wise that divides the body in right and left portions. If the plane is in the middle of the body it is the median. all others are parasaggital.
  6. medial
    refers to the imaginary midline dividing the body into equal right and left sections. A body part is medial if closer to the midline than another part.
  7. lateral
    Means toward the side away from the imaginary midline. (Ears are lateral to eyes)
  8. homeostasis
    is balance, stability, all things work for this purpose.
  9. negative feedback loop
    it is a system within the body that when something isn"t right it restores it. (Furnace)
  10. brachial
    the arm
  11. antebrachium
    the forearm
  12. pectoral
    the chest
  13. gluteal
    the buttocks
  14. dorsal
    the back
  15. anterior
    means toward the front
  16. posterior
    means toward the back
  17. superior
    means the body part that is above another body part
  18. inferior
    means a body part that is below another body part
  19. enzymes
    are proteins that control the speed of chemical reactions in your body. The reactions would be too slow on their own to keep you alive. Some break down large molecules into smaller ones and other combine molecules to make bigger ones. They also help cells to communicate. Keeping cell growth, death and life under control.
  20. covelant bond
    the chemical bond between the atoms that share electrons (strongest bonds)
  21. ionic bonds
    chemical bond that results when two ions form by transfer of electrons
  22. hydrogen bond
    bond between a hydrogen and an atom of oxygen or nitrogen between molecules or different regions of a very large molecule
  23. 4 nitrogen bases found in DNA
  24. Amino acid "R" groups
    Phenylalanine, Lysine, Aspaartic Acid
