    Visual examination.

  20. Presbyopia
    Loss of elasticity of the lens and thus loss of ability to see close objects.
  21. Dacryocystitis
    Inflammation of the lacrimal sac
  22. Hordeolum (Sty)
    A redness, swelling, and tenderness of the hair follicle and glands that empty at the edge of the eyelids.
  23. Cataracts
    • Opacity of the lens and its capsule
    • (cloudy pupils)
  24. Glaucoma
    A disturbance in the circulation of aqueous fluid, which causes an increase in intraocular pressure.
  25. Mydriasis
    • Enlarged pupils 
    • (due to: injury, Glaucoma, drug use)
  26. Miosis
    • Constricted pupils
    • (may indicate inflammation of the irisas a result from drugs; morphine, other narcotics, barbiturates, or pilocarpine)
  27. When looking at a near object the pupils do what?
    Constrict
  28. When looking at a far object the pupils do what?
    Dilate
  29. Strabismus
    Cross-eye
  30. Nystagmus
    Rapid involuntary rhythmic eye movement
  31. Pleximeter
    The object placed against a body area and struck to elicit sound during percussion
  32. Plexor
    The finger used to strike the pleximeter
