  1. Types of Protozoan
    Flagellates, Ameba, Apicomplexa, Cialophora
  2. Types of nuclei
    • Compact nuclei (have nucleolus)
    • Vesticular nucleus (hypothecal layer of condensed chromosomes around outer layer and a small endosome in middle)
    •         -Have inner fluid endoplasm and outer firm endoplasm
  3. Modes of Protozoan movement:
    Cilia, Flagellum, Undulating Membrane, Pseudopodia
  4. Protozoan forms of uptake
    Cytosome, Active/Passive transport, Phagocytosis, Pinocytosis
  5. Tropozoite: Active stage (feeds)
  6. Cyst
    Dormant, environmentally resistant stage
  7. Binary Fission
    Asexual reproduction
  8. Schizogony
    • Mutiple mitotic divisions followed by cytokinesis
    • Produces merozoites
  9. Gametogony
    • Multiple mitotic divisions
    • Produces macro or micro gametocytes
  10. Syngamy
    Fusion of gametes to become diploid
  11. Sporogony
    • Meiotic/Mitotic Division
    • Produces haploid sporozoites
