  1. This drug is the 9th most prescribed drug in the US. It is used in the treatment of anxiety & panic attacks. Very habit forming.
    Alprazolam (Xanax)
  2. This drug is one of the most commonly used in the US. Used in tx for anxiety, alleviation of DT's, hallucinations & seizures. Also used in tx of SE (status epilecticus), nausea from  chemotherapy.
    Lorazepam (Ativan)
  3. Commonly used in tx of absence seizures, has unlabeled use in tx for schizophrenia, neuralgias, and depression.
    Clonazepam (Klonopin)
  4. commonly used for tx of insommnia
    Temazepam (Restoril)
  5. Occasionally used in tx of anxiety before surgery or dental work, muscle spasticity. IV tx for status epilepticus.
    Diazepam(Valium)
  6. One of first benzodiazepines, rapid action, short duration. Used to induce sleep. Amnesia can be a problem. Rarely prescribed anymore.
    Triazolam (Halcion)
  7. Given IV prior to surgery or unpleasant medical procedures (colonoscopy) to produce sedation and amnesia.
    Midazolam(Versed)
  8. Ten times more powerful than Valium. Used to treat insomnia outside of Us. AKA: Roofies, notorious as "Date-Rape," drug.
    Flunitrazepam (Rohypnol)
