  1. Transducer
convert one form of energy into another.
  2. Negative feed back loop
When the response opposes the original stimulus.
  3. Positive feedback loop
Happens almost exponentially until a point is reached and it is completely shut down (eg. Na+)
  4. Endergonic reactions
    Make larger things, require energy.
  5. Exergonic reactions
Also called Catabolic reactions; Break larger molecules down to release energy.
  6. Catalyst
speed up rate but are not altered or consumed in the process.
  7. Enzymes
are proteins that f(x) as biological catalysts and the human body contains 1,000's of different types of enzymes.
  8. Phosphotase
    removes phosphates from molecules.
  9. Kinase
    adds phosphates to molecules.
  10. dehydrogenase
    removes Hydrogens
  11. hydrolase
    adds H2O
  12. polymerase
    assembles polymers.
  13. isomerase
    rearranges atoms in a molecule.
  14. synthase
    dehydration synthesis reactions.
  15. carbonic anhydrase
    removes H2O from carbonic acid.
  16. Amylase
    digests starch.
  17. Lipase
    digests lipids
  18. protease
    digests proteins.
  19. Inactive enzymes typically . . .
and in -ogen. Where active enzymes end in -ase.
