  1. S - Simple Conversion
    • Switch Subject and Predicate. Valid with E and I Propositions.
    • No snake is a mammal. > No mammal is a snake.
  2. P - Limitation (Per Accidens)
    • Switch Subject and Predicate and limit to a Particular. Valid with A Propositions.
    • Every mammal is an animal. > Some animals are mammals.
  3. M - Transposition (Mutatio)
    Switch Major and Minor Premises. Never used alone.

    • Every wrestler is a tough guy
    • No golfer is a tough guy
    • Therefore, no golfer is a wrestler.

  4. C - Contradiction
    Contradict the conclusion and switch it with the O Premise. Bocardo & Baroco. This is used only to show that one of the premises must be false.

    • Some stone is not sensible
    • Therefore, some stone is not an animal.
