Athens had Athena; Sparta had Artemis; Corinth was a center for the worship of Aphrodite; Delphi and Delos had Apollo; Olympia had Zeus

the dieties are anthropormorphic - Look human exept they are larger than life (immortal)

• was sacrifice, especially the blood sacrifice of animals
• respect for the gods, who were majestic
