  1. Electricity
A form of energy resulting from the interaction of charged particles (electrons, protons)
  2. Static charge
A charge that remains on the surface of an object instead of flowing away
  3. Charging by friction
A process where two objects of different materials rub against each other creating a net static charge.
  4. Electrostatic series
A list of materials arranged in accordance with their ability to hold onto electrons.
  5. Insulator
A material that does not let electrons pass through it.
  6. Conductor
A material, usually metal, that allows electrons to pass through it easily.
  7. Semiconductor
A material that atoms can move fairly well through, but not as easily as a conductor.
  8. Ground
An object that can either give or receive a large number of electrons, neutralizing whatever object it is connected to
  9. Electroscope
A device that detects the presence of an electrical charge
  10. Charging by contact
generating a charge on a neutral object by touching it with a charged object
  11. laws of electric charges
Laws that describe how to objects interact electrically, when one of them is charged
  12. electric field
A property of space around a charged object, where the effect of its charge can be felt by other objects
  13. Induced charge separation
The movement of electrons in a substance due to the electric field of a charged object that is not in direct contact.
  14. Ion
A positively or negatively charged atom or group of atoms
  15. Lightning Rod
A metal ball or point at the highest part of a building that is connected to the ground
  16. electrostatic precipitator
A type of cleaner that removes unwanted particles and droplets from a flow of gas using electrical charge
  17. Van De Graff generator
A device that accumulates a very large charge
  18. Radiation dosimeter
A small device that detects and measures exposure to radiation
