  1. sudo command
    Super User Do, similar to running a program as an administrator
  2. man pages
    Manual pages included in Linux. It may be easier to just Google something though.
  3. tasksel command
    Make it easier to install and integrate multiple systems such as servers, file systems, etc.
  4. repository
    A software repository is a storage location from which software packages may be retrieved and installed on Linux.
  5. apt-get command
    Installs individual programs. Example: 'sudo apt-get install apache' will install an Apache web server.
  6. remove command
    Used to uninstall programs
  7. upgrade command
    Used to update or upgrade software.
  8. /etc/init.d/'service name'_ start command
    Starts a service or program
  9. /etc/init.d/'service name'_ command
    Stops a service or program
  10. /etc/init.d/'service name'_ restart command
    Restarts a service aka program
  11. top command
    Task manager of Linux, typing 'h' within top will provide help with additional commands
  12. k_'process id number'
    Kills a particular process, based on the number entered
  13. cd command
    Change directory. Example: cd_/root/documents/ebooks
  14. The Shell
    The screen used to interact with the operating system.
  15. GUI (gooey)
    Graphical User Interface. e.g. Windows, Mac OSX
  16. LUI (looey)
    Line User Interface. e.g. terminal, command prompt, etc
  17. Capitalization
    is absolutely relevant in Linux. Each letter is recognized as a unique character.
