  1. Drafting Preparation
    • 1. Position the apparatus (lift is less than 20 feet). Set the anchor lock and turn the warning lights on.
    • 2. Shut down the apparatus, safely exit the apparatus, and chock the tire(s).
    • 3. Connect a hard suction hose together and then to the apparatus. 
    • 4. Attach safety rope (clove hitch on stainer, bowline around couplings)
    • 5. Connect the 2½-inch hose lines from the attack pumper to the discharge gates.
    • 6. check caps, fittings, and couplings for tightness and ensure drains are closed, the relief valve is off, and the tank-fill and tank-to-pump valve is closed.
    • 7. Restart engine and put into pump
  2. Drafting Pumping
    • 1. Switch the pump transfer valve from series (pressure) to parallel (volume).
    • 2. Throttle to 800-1200rpm (100 psi)
    • 3. Prime the pump within 30 sec (1250 gpm pump) to 45 sec (1500 gpm pump) should discharge
    • 4. Release prime when discharge starts to rise
    • 5. Up discharge pressure to 50 - 100 psi.
    • 6. Open a discharge gate and watch for pressure drop in intake side.
    • 7. Increase engine rpm to desired pressure
    • 8. shutdown operation slowly
    • 9. Flush pump
  3. Relay Pumping
    • 1. Largest capacity pumper at source
    • 2. Position relay pumper according to procedures at appropriate distance from source
    • 3. Connect 2.5 or greater diameter hose to discharges
    • 4. Establish comm with relay pumper
    • 5. Ensure relay pumper has opened bleeder valve on PIV before rec'ing water
    • 6. Open valve, set pressure, and ensure 20 psi residual at relay pumper
    • 7. Set pressure control device
    • 8. Monitor gauges and activate cooling systems if needed
    • 9. shutdown
  4. Foam Eductor
    • 1. Establish proper pumping position and setup.
    • 2. Check eductor to ensure proper settings are made and equipment is clear of obstructions and appears to be in working order
    • 3. Place eductor at desired position with hoseline being inline with eductor.
    • 4. Ensure eductor is no more than 6 ft above the foam concentrate supply.
    • 5. Deploy no more than 150 ft of 1.5" hoseline
    • 6. Throttle up to 1000 rpm and open hoseline.
    • 7. Raise psi to achieve desired working pressure.
    • 8. Switch eductor to foam
    • 9. Raise psi to 200 for foam
    • 10. Communicate with nozzleman, set pressure control device, and monitor
    • 11. Auxiliary cooling system
    • 12. shutdown
  5. DSP or Sprinkler
    • 1. Establish proper pump position and setup
    • 2. Establish water supply
    • 3. Connect at least 2 hoses from pumper to FDC
    • 4. If gpm exceeds 70% of rated capacity switch to volume from pressure
    • 5. Open discharge slowly to prevent water hammer
    • 6. Raise throttle to desired working pressure
    • 7. Set pressure control device
    • 8. Auxiliary cooling systems engaged
    • 9. Monitor pump panel
    • 10. Shutdown
