    • 1. nonselectively blocks B-1 and B-2 receptors
    • 2. Decreases sinus rate
    • 3. slows atrial contractions
    • 4. delays AV node conduction
    • 5. suppresses spontaneous electrical activity and muscle force
  3. Propanolol (Inderal) Indications
    • 1. Primary indication: SVT
    • 2. prevents recurrent VT with pulse refractory to lidocaine.
    • 3. tachyarrhythmias due to digitalis toxicity
    • 4. reduces likelyhood of VF after AMI in patients not requiring thrombolytic therapy
  4. Propanolol (Inderal) Contraindications
    • 1. Any depressed cardiac function
    • 2. any bradycardia
    • 3. COPD, CHF, Asthma
    • 4. Do not give with sympathomimetics, aminophylline or cardiac depressants
  5. Propanolol (Inderal) Precautions
    Atropine and Isuprel should be available
  6. Propanolol (Inderal) Side Effects
    • 1. Bradycardia / Heart blocks
    • 2. Hypotension, nausea, vomitting
    • 3. CHF
    • 4. Bronchospams
  7. Propanolol (Inderal) Dosage
    • 1st Dose: 1mg over 5 min
    • 2nd Dose: .5mg over 5 to 10 minutes

    Slow IV bolus
  9. Propanolol (Inderal) How supplied
    vial 1mg / ml
  10. Propanolol (Inderal) Pediatric Dosage
    .01 mg / kg
