  1. What is gray matter vs white matter?
    Gray matter is made of unmyelinated axons, white matter is made of myelinated axons.
  2. What is the outer area of the cerebrum called?
    The cerebral cortex. made of gray matter.
  3. What is the inner white matter part of the cerebrum made up of?
    Tracts, projection (like spinothalamic), commissural, and association tracts. Also basal ganglia.
  4. Projection tracts
    between cerebrum and the rest of the body
  5. Commissural tracts
    between hemispheres
  6. Association tracts
    Within the same hemisphere
  7. What is basal ganglia?
    Gray matter deep in the white matter. consists of nuclei. Receives signals from substantia nigra of the midbrain and motor areas of the cortex. Inhibits movement for unnecessary movement.
