How the 3 Organizations Work Together (ARRT, JRCERT, ASRT
Student attends a JRCERT accredited program
Complete a comprehensive curriculum developed by the ASRT

Regulated by each State’s Department of Health
Does not use contrast media for blood vessels or abdominal organs
Each state has different regulations
- Practicing outside scope of practice can result in fines, imprisonment, suspended, or
- revoked license, and/or all the above
Each operator’s responsibility to know the State’s regulations

Duties of the LXMO ( limited x-ray medical operator)
Receives order for exam and completes necessary paperwork
Introduces self to patient and verifies correct exam and correct patient
Directs to dressing room
Give brief explanation of exam
Answer any questions about the exam
Assist the patient to the correct position

Shield the patient
Set the technique for the appropriate exposure
Give the final instructions for the exposure
After exposure, ensure patient comfort
Process Images
Send images to Radiologist
