  1. FIRE - Which compartments have fire detection systems?
    6 Optical Sensors for MGB area. 2 on each imput and two rear at Oil Cooler and RTR Brake. Each ENG Bay has one on floor and one on wall.
  2. FIRE - Which compartments have fire extinguishing systems?
    Only ENGINES have Fire Extinguishing System. 2 Fire Bottles total.
  3. FIRE - How many positive Fire sensor signals does it take to activate an alarm?
    Only One Signal from an optical detector.
  4. FIRE - What does BFIR1/2 indicate?
    Detector Lanes 1 and 2 are independent but physically paired together. BFIR 1 and 2 gives higher confirmation of FIRE.
  5. FIRE - BFIR1 indication only. What are our actions. What are we looking for and why?
    Bold Face action. Perform FIRE EXTG - TEST. If only the original light is illuminated you can assume that the other channel has been damaged by heat or fire. LAND IMMEDIATELY.
  6. FIRE - How many fire extinguishing shots are available to each engine?
    There are two bottles - A & B. You can discharge both into one engine by using Shot 1 and Shot 2 push buttons.
  7. FIRE - How is the fire extinguisher activated. and which button activates which bottle?
    Each ENG has two FIRE buttons. The LH Button is bottle A. The RH button is bottle B.
  8. FIRE - Why is it important to wait until Ng<30% before activating the fire extinguisher?
    When >30% Ng the fire agent may get extracted through the rear of the engine cowling by venturi effect of the mixing air for the IR supressor exhaust. FM Book 1 p 1-3-11
  9. FIRE - What does activation of the MCO do?
    Turns off SOVs. ALTs and TRUs. Leaves on DBAT. EMERG and STBY DC Busses. FM Book 1 p1-6-8

    Two things. 1 - You will not be able to take the first engine past IDLE. 2 - You will not be able to start a second engine at all. INHIB caution will illuninate. FM Book 1 p 1-4-12
  16. RTR BRAKE - Can you start the engines with the rotor brake in the BRAKE position?
    Prohibited to do this as friction caused may cause a rotor brake fire. On PBL2 you can physically do it. On PBL3 the EIAU will inhibited ENG Start and not let you. FM Book 1 p 1-4-12

  26. CX - What do you do if the FUEL caption flickers on the APU control panel?
    Once the APU is running you can disregard a flickering FUEL light on the APU control panel. FM Book 2 p1-3-4
  27. CX - What do you do if a LEAK caution appears on the VMD when HYD pressurised?
    It may appear for several minutes. Check PCM level is steady and LEAK caution out before taxi. FM Book 2 p1-3-4
  28. CX - What do you do if you get a GOV caution on VMD before ENG start?
    You must abort start and perform power down and power up again. FM Book 2 p1-3-5
  29. CX - What conditions can cause serious flap stop damage?
    Caution - In high winds >30KTS large imputs by pilot or FCS Test can cause severe damage to flap stops. FM Book 2 p1-3-6
  30. CX - How many times can you run the FCS test with Trims in MAN?
    You are limited to nine suceesive tests in MAN trims. FM Book 2 p1-3-7
  31. CX - How many times can you run the FCS test after a NOGO result?
    Four tests in total allowed. Run the test two times then power down and run the test a further two times before aircraft is US. FM Book 2 p1-3-7
  32. CX - What do you do if you get a CHECK VMD FCS after the FCS test?
    You can still fly. On FCS page and check alternate digital computer by pressing TRIM REL and FCS REL on cyclic. If any symbols Amber or Red inform mait after flight. FM Book 2 p1-3-7

    You must perform a data download to the Maint DID. FM Book 2 p1-4-1

  39. CX - Can you fly if a system is deteriorated on VMD but does not show on CWP?
    If there is no CWP caution and only degredation on VMD this does not preclude safe flight. FM Book 2 p1-5-1
  40. CX - What is the Caution regarding use of toe brakes to set the park brake?
    If toe brakes applied you must release them no faster than 2s otherwise the Wheel Brake metering valve will be damaged. FM Book 2 p1-5-1
  41. CX - What the hell is FAR part 29 CAT A and B mean?
    If your MTOW >20000lbs and 10 or more seats you must be CAT A certified - if 9 or less seats then you can be CAT B certified. Federal Aviation Regulations Part 29 - Sect 1

  89. DEICE - What does the de-ice SEVERE button do and how long for?
    It increases the freq and power of blade de-icing. It will not be effective till 3 min after selection. Runs for 14 min. FM Book 1. p1-12-16
  90. DEICE - What normally runs the Blade De-icing equipment? Does it work degraded?
    Two Power De-icing Units (PDU) run the de-ice. When one PDU fails the other PDU will start alternating MR blades sets in turn 1+3 then 2+4 and lower the power. TR Blades alternate sets normally so there is no change for TR. FM Book 1. p1-12-17
  91. DEICE - How many ALT do you need to run de-ice? What happens if they start to fail?
    Normally all de-ice powered by ALT3. If ALT3 fails ALT1+ALT2 will share the load. If ALT3 and one other ALT fails you will have no de-ice. FM Book 1. p1-12-17
  92. FCS - What height AGL will V/S mode stop the aircraft descending?
    At 200ft AGL VS will drop to zero. FM Book 1 p1-10-37
  93. FCS - What angle will the aircraft intercept in LOC mode?
    If the angle you are currently on is 15 - 50deg it will hold. Otherwise it will set 30deg intercepot. FM Book 1. p1-10-33
  94. FCS - What does the G/S auto level do?
    The auto level will fly the aircraft off glidepath and level at 70ft on RHT and IAS. FM Book 1. p1-10-34
  95. FCS - What happens when you press Go-Around on the collective?
    IAS sets speed at 80KTS. V/S halts any descent and sets RoC at +700fpm. FM Book 1. p1-10-35
