  1. Deltoideus
    • Origin- The spine and acromion (humerus).
    • Insertion- The deltoid tuberosity (humerus)
    • Action- To flex the shoulder.
    • Innervation- Axillary nerve.
  2. Infraspinatus
    • Origin- The infraspinatus fossa.
    • Insertion- On the lateral side of the greater tubercle (humerus).
    • Action- To extend or flex the joint; to abduct and rotate the shoulder laterally; to prevent medial rotation when weight-bearing.
    • Innervation- Suprascapular nerve.
  3. Teres minor
    • Origin- The infraglenoid tubercle (scapula) and distal third of the caudal border of the scapula.
    • Insertion- Teres minor tuberosity (humerus).
    • Action- To flex the shoulder; to rotate the shoulder laterally; to prevent medial rotation hen weight-bearing.
    • Innervation- Axillary nerve.
  4. Supraspinatus
    • Origin- The supraspinous fossa.
    • Insertion- The greater tubercle (humerus).
    • Action- To extend and stabilize the shoulder joint.
    • Innervation- Suprascapular nerve.
