The main reservoir system of the locomotive does what for the system?

What does the air compressor do?
"makes air" and delivers air to main reservoir for storage
There are two main reservoirs on each locomotive they store compressed air until needed for freight cars or locomotive air brake operations.
Where are the two reservoirs located?
Reservoir 1 left side of engine/right side cab (conductor's side)
- Reservoir 2 right side engine/left side cab
