The flashcards below were created by user Barrie on FreezingBlue Flashcards. What would you like to do?

  1. What are the three main structural features of all cells?
    Cell Membrane, Nucleus and Cytoplasm
  2. What does the cell membrane do?
Acts as a barrier for the cell and controls movement of molecules out-to-in and in-to-out side of the cell.
  3. What does the nucleus do?
'Control center' of the cell; controls almost all of cell functions
  4. What are the two components of cytoplasm?
Cytosol-the 'broth' gel fluid inside the cell

Organelles-the 'beef & veggies' means "little organs" of the cells
  5. What is endoplasmic reticulum(ER)?
the 'production plant' for proteins; rebuilds, strengthens, remodels, new cell membrane and secretory product
  6. Define extracellular.
Outside of the cell, ie protein synthesis
  7. Define intracellular.
Inside the cell, ie forms new membrane
  8. What is the golgi complex?
Works with ER; modifies, packages & delivers, distributes proteins
