How does the mandibular second deciduous molar compare to the first?
- This is a smaller version of the mandibular first permanent molar though it is narrower, whiter and has widely diverging roots.
- Other distinguishing features are;
- The cingulum on the mesiobuccal corner of the crown,
- The greater convexity of the mesial and distal surfaces,
- The more extensive central fossa on the occlusal surface.
- The mesiolingual and distobuccal cusps are not usually joined to give the Dryopithecus pattern.
