It summarizes the points of a scatterplot and provides the means for making predictions

In a survey, a question asked in such a way that the answer desired by the questioner is clear
92. When does the APA not require informed consent in survey research?
The APA excuses anonymous questionnaires assuming that disclosure of responses would not place participants at risk of criminal or civil liability or damage their financial standing, employability, or reputation and confidentiality is protected
