    • Reduces BP without relex tachycarida
    • Total peripheral resistance is reduces without significant alteration in cardiac output

    Indications
    Moderate to severe HTN

    Contraindications
    • Bradycardia
    • Bronchial asthma
    • Cardiogenic shock
    • CHF
    • 2nd/3rd degree heart block

    Adverse reactions
    • Headache
    • Dizziness
    • Dyspnea
    • HTN
    • Ventricular arrythmias
  6. Labetalol(Normodyne, Trandate) 
    Dosage
    • Adult: 5-20mg slow IV push over 2mins. Can give additional dosage of 10-40mg at 10min interval. 
    • Infusion: 2mg/min titrated to acceptable supine BP

    Peds: Saftey has not been established
