  1. What is tunneling used for in VPNs
    Connections between VPN gateways (site-to-site VPNs)
  2. What is transport used for in VPNs?
    To connect an end point (client) to a VPN
  3. What is the difference between AH and ESP?
    Authentication Header only provides authentication and data integrity (packets are digitally signed). Encapsulating Security Payload encrypts traffic and provides authentication and data integrity.
  4. What is NCP and what is it used for
    Network Control Protocol - negotiates upper level protocols over PPP. Upper level in this case is layer 3 and up.
  5. What is LCP and what is it used for?
    Link Control Protcol - establishes and maintains the L2 PPP link
