Actonel to risedronate
- June 2014
- Indication: osteoporosis, Paget's Dx
- MOA: pyridinyl bisphosphonate, inhibits osteoclasts and is antiresorptive
- Common Forms: tablets
- CI: hypocalcemia, hypersensitivity, can't sit for 30 mins
- AE: slight change of back or abdominal pain, hypertension, diarrhea, UTI
- Counsel: at least 30 mins before food/drinks, with full glass of water, sit upright, just swallow whole, cushion time between supplemental calcium, skip dose to get back to schedule if missed
