  2. Optic Nerve

    • Sensory: Conveys visual information from retina to the brain

  3. Oculomotor Nerve
    (III)
    • Sensory: Propioception of eyeball and eyelid
    • Motor:
    • Innervates most external eye muscles, muscle that elevates eyelid(somatic/voluntary)
    • Innervates iris & ciliary body (autonomic)

    • Propioception of jaw position
    • Motor: Innervates muscles

    • Sensory:Propioception of eyeball position
    • Motor: Innervates lateral rectus (abducts eyeball)
  7. Facial Nerve
    (VII)
    • Sensory: Innervates taste buds of anterior 2/3 of tongue
    • Propioception of facial skin position
    • Motor:
    • Innervates muscles of facial expression(somatic), salivary, and lacrimal glands(Autonomic)
  8. Vestibulocochlear Nerve
    (VIII)
    Sensory: Conducts auditory and head position information from inner ear to brain
  9. Glossopharyngeal Nerve
    (IX)
    • Sensory: Innervates the tastebuds of posterior 1/3 of tongue
    • Propioception of tongue and throat position
    • Motor: Innervates muscles of tongue & throat(somatic) and salivary glands(Autonomic)
  10. Vagus
    (X)
    • Sensory:
    • Conveys pressure, stretch, and pain sensations from above organs
    • Motor: Innervate heart, airways, lungs, digestive organs, and blood vessels that supply them (autonomic)
    • Innervates throat muscles involved in swallowing

    • Sensory: Propioception of head + neck position
    • Motor: Innervates sternocleidomastoid and trapezius
