- Definition:___The ability to access, analyze, evaluate and create media. When you are media literate is when you can see information in media objectively.
- Application: In news, for education. Whenever there is wrong or not trustworthy information, you can investigate about it in order to be well informed. It prevents people to be tricked into buying something or misunderstanding facts.

7. As we have seen in class, obesity is a rising problem around the world. What circumstances could be causing the increase of global levels of obesity? Think about people’s lifestyles, habits, living conditions and how these affect or even limit their food choices.
People have become more sedentary lifestile. There are many fast food. Inactivity.
8. Many diseases can be caused by inheritance. However, others are a result of unhealthy eating habits. List 3 diseases resulting from unhealthy eating habits.
9. Find a food or beverage advertisement that might encourage you to buy their product and describe the ad here (for example Tony the Tiger selling Frosted Flakes). What are they trying to ￼sell? How might it affect what you choose to eat or drink?How might it influence your future choices when given other food options?
They are selling you cereal. They are making this look more appealing to little kids because there is an apparently friendly animal that want to assign a very important mission to you. It seems like a game. You have curiosity for the food this advertising sells, so you purchase it. If you keep on falling in publicity, you would get used to buying this type of artificial food. Excess of this food can cause problems. If you get used to Choco Krisipis, it is just a matter of time before you fall into buying more of these kinds of food.
10. The production of a T-shirt has 4 main steps from start to finish. List them in order here. Give an explanation about what is occurring at each stage.

- An illegal place with unfavorable working conditions and often very dangerous to the worker's heath. They generally work for more than what is recommended, at low salaries. Generally, they are physically and psychologically abused.

- There are some clothes companies that assure and have certificates that the clothes is made 100% legally and workers from there have not suffered. Two examples are Fair Indigo and Indigenous.
12. Child laborers work long hours in harsh conditions. Due to the necessity of work in their lives what are some things they may not be able to do in their childhood?
- ￼Play, have an education, be with their family, go to the doctor, read, travel or even think about their situation, and try to change it, it is very difficult for them to get out of poverty. Be healthy.

14. For each United Nations organ list their purpose.
- a) Secretariat:
- These are the employees of the United Nations. Work all over the world, if there was a voting, it would be decided by simple majority. Work in UN Headquarters in New York. This body meets with the full membership of the United Nations.
- b) General Assembly:
- ￼191 member nations. Can discuss any topic that the member wish to speak about. UN Headquarters in New York. Discuss issues of peace and security. Members should be available at a moments notice in case of Crisis.
- c) International Court of Justice:
- 15 judges are elected by the General Assembly for their judicial expertise; they do not represent their countries. This body provides legal opinions on cases and on the interpretation of International Treaties. This is not made up of Member States. Is located in the same city as the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands. Assisted territories in achieving independence or joining neighboring countries.
- d) Security Council:
- 15 Member states (5 permanent - 10 rotating). Settles legal disputes among countries not people. UN Headquarters, NY. The decisions are legally binding and may be enforced through sanctions.
- e) Trusteeship Council:
- The five permanent members of the Security Council ran this council when it was active. Oversees trust territories. The council no longer meets because it has fulfilled its mission. If necessary, it will be recalled by the General Assembly. This body cease to exist with the independence of Palau.
- f) Economic and Social Council:
- 54 member states elected by the General Assembly. Debates international economic and social issues. UN Headquarters, NY. This body regularly works with Non Governmental Organizations.
15. Investigate 2 invasive species and describe the damage they can do to an ecosystem.
