What is a cell wall?
A cell wall is a structural layer that surrounds some types of cells, situated outside the cell membrane. It can be tough, flexible and sometimes rigid and functions to provides cells with structural support and protection and to act as a filtering mechanism.
what is the nucleus
The genes within these chromosomes are the cell's nuclear genome. The function of the nucleus is to maintain the integrity of these genes and to control the activities of the cell by regulating gene expression—the nucleus is, therefore, the control center of the cell.
Cell found in:the mitochondria is found inThe main job of mitochondria is to perform cellular respiration. This means it takes in nutrients from the cell, breaks it down, and turns it into energy. both found in animal and plant cells.
Ribosomes are a cell structure that makes protein. Protein is needed for many cell functions such as repairing damage or directing chemical processes. Ribosomes can be found floating within the cytoplasm or attached to the endoplasmic reticulum. ribosomes are found in both animal and plant cells.
- The Golgi complex receives proteins and fats from the rough endoplasmic reticulum, it changes them ,sorts and concentrates and finally packs them into sealed droplets called vesicles.
- Which cell is it found in? The Golgi complex is found in both animal and plant cells.
The endoplasmic reticulum is a membrane system of folded sacs and interconnected channels that serves as a site for protein and lipid synthesis.
Lysosomes are used to break down waste materials , such as food and other cells that have died, lysosomes are pretty much like the cell's waste disposal system. Lysosomes also contain enzymes which they send to the Golgi apparatus. found in both animal and plant cells
- The cytoskeleton provides an important structural framework for Cell shape.
- found in animal and plant cells
Peroxisomes are specialised organelles contained in eukaryotic cells. Generally their function is to breakdown very long chain fatty acids through a process called beta-oxidation.
Chloroplasts are organelles found in plant cells. The function of Chloroplasts is to absorb sunlight and use it along with water and carbon dioxide gas to produce food for the plant.
Flagella and Cilia
The function of the Flagella and Cilia is to move liquid past the surface of the cell. This allows single cells, such as sperm, to swim. For cells attached to a tissue, this moves liquid over the surface of the cell.
