Function of CT
What does all CT have?
- Specialised cells
- Ground substance
*matrix= fibres + ground substance = extracellular space
What fibres are found in CT?
Loose connective Tissue
- Abundant-free movement and minimum resistance
- Fixed cells
- Wandering cells
Dense connective tissue
- Dense Regular: dermis of the skin, resists stress in many directions. Found in tendons, most ligaments and PDL. Collagen fibres are deposited in a parallel bundle.
- Dense Irregular- collagen bundles are deposited in a haphazardous direction (not particular).
- Elastic: elastic fibres outnumber collagen fibres (vertebrae)
