  1. Function of CT
    • Connecting
    • Transporting
    • Protection
    • Storing
    • Deffending
  2. What does all CT have?
    • Specialised cells
    • Fibres
    • Ground substance

*matrix= fibres + ground substance = extracellular space
  3. What fibres are found in CT?
    • Collagen
    • Reticular
    • Elastic
  4. Loose connective Tissue
    • Abundant-free movement and minimum resistance
    • Fixed cells
    • Wandering cells
  5. Dense connective tissue
    Dense Regular
    Dense irregular
    Elastic
    • Dense Regular: dermis of the skin, resists stress in many directions. Found in tendons, most ligaments and PDL. Collagen fibres are deposited in a parallel bundle.
    • Dense Irregular- collagen bundles are deposited in a haphazardous direction (not particular).
    • Elastic: elastic fibres outnumber collagen fibres (vertebrae)
  6. Functions of CT
    • Insulate
    • Protects
    • Connects
    • Stabilise
    • Compartmentalise
