  1. Fluoxetine (Prozac)
    Fluvoxamine (luvox)
    Paroxetine (Paxin)
    Sertraline (Zoloft)
  2. Uses:
    Effective for "melancholic" depression.

    Also prescribed for obsessive-compulsive behavior and Eating Disorders.
  3. Advantages (over tricyclics):
    • less cardiotoxic
    • safer in overdose
    • less likely to produce cognitive impairment
    • more rapid onset
  4. Side-Effects:
    • Gastrointestinal Disturbances (nausea, appetite loss, constipation, diarrhea)
    • Insomnia
    • Anxiety
    • Headache
    • Dizziness
    • Anorexia
    • Tremor
    • Frequent Urination
    • Sexual Dysfunction
