Amphetamines Side Effects:
- poor appetite
- cardiac arrhythmia
*Repeated use produces tolerance and can result in sensitization.
*Prolonged use can lead to psychotic state similar to Paranoid Schizophrenia. Recovery from "amphetamin psychosis" rapid after discontinuing the drug.
Methylphenidate Side Effects:
- dysphoria (anxiety, irratibility, depression, euphoria, sadness)
- decreased appetite
- growth suppression in higher doses ("drug holiday" reduces risk)
