  3. Indications:
    • cardiac arrest due to V-fib or pulseless V tach
    • neurogenic diabetes insipidous
    • GI hemorrhage
  4. contraindications:
    • allergies
    • vascular disease
    • angina pectoris
  5. precaution:
    • risk of hyponatremia
    • Pts with asthma
    • epilepsy
    • heart failure
  6. side effects:
    • nausea
    • vomiting
    • diarrhea
    • confusion
    • hives
    • wheezing
    • pain at IV sites
  7. dosage:

    route:
    bolus dose in cardiac arrest is one administration of 40 units IV push
