    a signal to which an organism responds.
  6. Homeostasis:
    The process by which organisms keep internal conditions such as temperature and water content, constant to survive.
  7. Evolution:
    The ability of a group of organisms to change over time.
  8. Branches of biology:
    Some of the levels which life can be studied include molecules, cells, organisms, population of single kinds of organisms, communities of different organisms in an area and the biosphere.
