    • - occurs in: renal disease, or in normal urine after heavy exercise

    • inherited condition of multiple cysts that gradually form in the kidney
    • - causes: destruction of normal tissue that leads to renal failure
    • - diagnosed in adults presenting with: hypertension, kidney enlargement, & recurrent urinary tract infections
  18. Glomerulonephritis
    form of nephritis involving the glomerulus
  19. Hydronephritis
    • dilation & pooling of urine in the renal pelvis & calyces of one or both kidneys
    • - caused by: obstruction in the outflow of urine
  20. Nephritis
    inflammation of the kidney
  21. Pyelonephritis
    inflammation of the renal pelvis
  22. Nephrosis
    degenerative disease of the renal tubules
  23. Nephrolithiasis
    • presence of renal stone or stones
    • - caused by: mineral buildup in the kidneys
    • - most commonly due to: hyperuricuria (excessive amount of uric acid in the urine), or hypercalciuria (excessive amount of calcium in the urine)
  24. Cystitis
    inflammation of the bladder
  25. Urethritis
    inflammation of the urethra
  26. Urethrocystitis
    inflammation of the urethra & the bladder
  27. Urethral Stenosis
    narrowed condition of the urethra
  28. Uremia
    (Azotemia)
    • excess of urea & other nitrogenous waste in the blood
    • - due to: kidney failure
