Provides members with affection, support, and a sense of belonging and confidence.

What is a self-help group? Examples?
Offer support and encouragement to members who want or need help with personal issues.
Weight watchers, AA
What are learning groups? Examples.
Help members gain knowledge and develop skills.
Study groups, book discussion groups.

Support worthy causes that help people outside the group.

Support worthy causes that help people within the group.

Achieve specific tasks and routine duties on behalf of a business organization.

Discuss important issues in front of or for the benefit of the public or key decision makers.
Panel discussions, symposiums, forums and goverance groups.
What are the types of work groups?
- Ad hoc - specific purpose and disbands once complete.
- Standing - remains active in order to accomplish an ongoing task
- Task force - gathers info and makes recommendations reguarding a specific issue.
Work teams - relatively permanent, does not tak time from work to meet, this is work.

- Panel discussion
- Goverance Groups

- Superior peformance
- Greater member satisfaction
