  1. What are the criteria for Anorexia?
    • A) Refusal to maintain weight at or above 85%
    • B) Intense fear of gaining weight or being fat, despite being underweight.
    • C) Disturbance in way one's weight/shape is experienced or undue influence of weight on self-eval or denial of seriousness of low weight.
    • D) Amennorhea (no period x 3 mo's).

    • Specify if current episode:
    • Restricting Type: no binge or purging behaviour
    • Binge/Purging Type: regularly engaged in binge-eating or purging behavior (i.e., self-induced vomiting or the misuse of laxatives, diuretics, or enemas)
  2. What are the criteria for Bulemia Nervosa?
    • A) Recurrent episodes of binge eating, defined by:
    • -- 1) Eating within discrete period (2 hrs) more than most people would eat.
    • -- 2) Sense of loss of control over eating during episode
    • B) Recurrent compensatory behaviours designed to prevent weight gain (incl. purging, fasting, excessive exercise)
    • C) Binge eating and comp. behav. occur at least 2 times/week x 3 months
    • D) Self-evaluation is unduly influenced by body shape and weight
    • E) Does not occur exclusively during episodes of Anorexia Nervosa

    • Specify if current episode:
    • Purging Type: regular use of self-induced vomiting or the misuse of laxatives, diuretics, or enemas
    • Nonpurging Type: used other inappropriate compensatory behaviors, (fasting or excessive exercise)
  3. Eating Disorder NOS?
    • 1. For females, all of the criteria for Anorexia Nervosa are met except that the individual has regular menses.
    • 2. All of the criteria for Anorexia Nervosa are met except that, despite significant weight loss, the individual's current weight is in the normal range.
    • 3. All of the criteria for Bulimia Nervosa are met except that the binge eating and inappropriate compensatory mechanisms occur at a frequency of less than twice a week or 3 months.
    • 4. The regular use of inappropriate compensatory behavior by an individual of normal body weight after eating small amounts of food (e.g., self-induced vomiting after the consumption of two cookies).
    • 5. Repeatedly chewing and spitting out, but not swallowing, large amowlts of food.
    • 6. Binge-eating disorder: recurrent episodes of binge eating in the absence of the regular use of inappropriate compensatory behaviors characteristic of Bulimia Nervosa
