    • Distributes blood cells, water and dissolved materials, including nutrients, waste products, O2 and CO2
    • Distributes heat and assists in control of body temperature

    • Defends against infection and disease
    • Returns tissue fluid to bloodstream
  8. Digestive System
    • Processes and digest food
    • Absorbs and conserves water
    • Absorbs nutrients(ions, water, and breakdown products of dietary sugars, protiens and fats)
    • Stores energy reserves
  9. Respiratory System
    • Delivers air to the alveoli( sites in lungs where gas exchange occurs)
    • Provides O2 to bloodstream
    • Removes CO2 from bloodstream
    • Produces sounds for communication
  10. Urinary System
    • Excretes waste products from blood
    • Controls water balance by regulating volume of urine produced
    • Stores urine prior to voluntary elimination
    • Regulates blood ion concentrations and pH
  11. Reproductive System(male and female)
    • (Male)- Produces male sex cells(sperm), suspending fluid and hormones
    • Sexual intercourse
    • (Female)- Produces female sex cells(oocytes) and hormones
    • Supports developing embryo from conception to delivery
    • Provides milk to nourish newborn infants
    • Sexual intercourse
