    • nursing intervention - alert medical staff, anticholinergic agent can be prescribed

    • Serum therapeutic range - 0.4-1.4
    • >1.5 = Toxic
    • Signs of Toxicity - N/V, diarrhea, thirst, ataxia, confusion
    • Nursing interventions - withold drug and take lithium blood levels
  59. MAOI dietary restrictions
    Low Tyramine diet - no draft beer, no cheeses, nothing aged
  60. Neuroleptic malignant syndrome
    • S&S - muscle rigidity, muscle spasms, dysphasia, hypertension, tachy, diaphoresis
    • nursing interventions - treat symptoms
  61. Serotonin Syndrome
    • occurs when on two SSRI medications
    • S&S - flu-like, aggitation
    • nursing intervention - hold meds
  62. Tartive Dyskinesia
    • NOT reversible, Permanent
    • caused by antipsychotics
    • S&S - mouth movements,
    • stopping drugs does not always relieve symptoms
  63. Grieving process and use of antidepressant and benzodiazepines
    narrow window
