  1. What is the classification of cimetidine (Tagamet)?
    Antiulcer agent is used for treatment and prophylaxis of peptic ulcers and gastric hypersecretory conditions.

    cimetidine is a histamine H2 antagonist that is used to treat active duodenal ulcers and benign gastric ulcers. Maintenance of GERD, heartburn, acid indigestion, and sour stomach.
  2. What is the contraindications of cimetidine (Tagamet)?
    Hypersensitivity to alcohol. Pts. with PKU, renal impairment.
  3. What is the adverse effects of cimetidine (Tagamet)?
    Life threatening: arrhythmias, agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia.

    Others: confusion, dizziness, drowsiness, hallucinations, and headache.
