Indications of Sartans?
Hypertension and HF if cant tolerate ACEI's
Precautions of sartans?
- Peripheral vascular disease
- Volume/sodium delpetion
- Renal impairment - may worsen
Adverse effects of sartans?
Dizziness, headache, hyperkalemia
Rare: dyspepsia, cough angioedema
Counselling of sartans?
You may feel dizzy when standing up, get up slowly
Avoid potassime supplements
Dose of candesartan?
- HTN - 8mg daily, increase up to 16mg
- HF- start at 4mg
Dose of irbersartan?
if older than 75?
150mg once daily increasing to 300mg
if older than 75, start at 75mg
Dose of telmisartan?
20-40mg once daily, increasse upto 80mg
Dose of valsartan?
- HTN-80mg daily
- HF- 40mg twice daily
