    • Major depression
    • Generalised anxiety disorder
    • Painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy
  2. Precautions of duloxetine?
    • seizure history
    • bipolar - can induce mania
    • Treatment within 14 days of ceasing a MAOI = contraindicated
    • renal impairment
  3. Adverse effects of duloxetine?
    nausea, dry mouth, constipation, decreased appetite, sweating, insomnia,
  4. Dosage of duloxetine?
    • depression - 60mg daily
    • diabetic neuropathy - 60mg daily
  5. counselling of duloxetine?
    • Take with food to minimise stomach upsets.
    • Do not open, crush or chew capsules.
    • Be careful driving or operating machinery until you know how duloxetine affects you.
    • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly unless your doctor tells you to.
    • increased suicidal thoughts and behaviour can occur soon after starting

    • hypertension - may be exacerbated by venlafaxine
    • bipolar - may provoke manic episode
    • seizure history
    • serotonin toxicity
  7. adverse effects of venlafaxine?
    nausea, vomiting, anorexia, headache, sweating, rash, anxiety, dizziness, fatigue, hypertension (dose-related), tremor
  8. Dose of venlafaxine?
    75 mg once daily, increasing to 150 mg once daily if required.
  9. Counselling of venlafaxine?
    • Take with food to minimise stomach upsets.
    • Do not open, crush or chew capsules, or put them in water.
    • Be careful driving or operating machinery until you know how venlafaxine affects you.
    • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly unless your doctor tells you to.
