    • Supplies supplemental glucose in cases of hypoglycemia

    None when used in hypoglycemic emergencies

    • Caution in patients with increased intracranial pressure

    • Get BGL first

    • Can cause tissue necrosis if infiltrated

  8. Side Effects
    Hyperglycemia, Tissue necrosis, phlebitis at injection site
  9. Adult Dose
    25g (50 mL of a 50% solution) titrated as needed
  10. Pedi-Dose
    Dilute in 1:1 sterile water (D25W) and give 0.5–1 g/kg slow IV bolus
  11. Max Dose

    Administer as needed
