    • 1 - Client assumes prone position. Males on TOES, Females on knees.
    • 2 - Hands shoulder width apart, head up, back straight.
    • 3 - Body lowered until chin touches mate or chest touches trainers fist.
    • 4 - Stomach does not touch the mat
    • 5 - Back must remain straight
    • 6 - Rest allowed in UP position
    • 7 - End point: # of pushups to exhaustion

    • 1 - Client lies on floor, face up. (Supine position) Knees at 90*
    • 2 - Arms at side touching a piece of tape
    • 3 - Second piece of tape placed either 12 cm (under 45) or 8 cm (over 45) from the first piece of tape.
    • 4 - Metronome set up for 40 beats per minute (20 reps per minute)
    • 5 - End point: Client curls up until 75 or until unable to follow cadence for a maximum of 1 minute.

  10. What are the key points of the YMCA Bench Press test?
    • 1- Straight Barbell 35lb for women 80lb for men
    • 2 - Metronome is set to 60 bpm (30 lifts)
    • 3 - Test begins in the down position, bar touching chest, elbows flexed, hand shoulder width apart.
    • 4 - Rep is counted when arms are fully extended
    • 5 - Bar lowers to chest after each extension
    • 6 - Test ends when cadence is lost
    • 7 - Review and record results
  11. What are the key points for Trunk / Back flexion test? (Also known at the sit and reach)
    • 1 - Warm up hamstrings and low back with gentle static stretching.
    • 2 - Put measuring tape on floor with a piece of tape at the 15" mark.
    • 3 - Client sits with feet 12" apart at the 15" mark.
    • 4 - Fingertips aligned on top of each other
    • 5 - Client slowly leans forward, exhaling with finger touching the measuring tape.
    • 6 - NO BOUNCES and must hold the stretch 1-2 seconds.
    • 7 - Best reach of 3 attempts.

    • Further note where flexion occurs:
    • HIPS - Good
    • LUMBAR SPINE - Fair
    • UPPER BACK - Poor
  12. What are the key points of the Hip-Joint ROM test?
    • 1 - Client on floor face up. (Supine position) both legs extended
    • 2 - Client draws one leg to chest with hands underneath bent knee UNTIL low back touches the floor.
    • 3 - Test is successful if thigh of straight leg maintains contact with floor. IF NOT the degree of elevation indicates hip flexor tightness.
    • 4 - Watch for excessive posterior rotation of the pelvis.
    • 5 - Review and record results.
  13. What are the key points for the Passive Leg test?
    • 1- Have client rotate pelvis so low back is snug against the floor.
    • 2- PT ensure opposite leg remains on floor, then raises one straight leg
    • 3- End Point - raised leg should maintain a minimum of 80-90*
    • 4 - Review and Record result
  14. What are the key points for the Chair Stand test?
    • 1- Have client begin in the seated position. Preferably with arm crossed in front of chest.
    • 2 - A completed standing movement is 1 rep.
    • 3 - All movements should be defined and controlled.
    • 4 - Stop the test when client breaks form or 30 seconds have ellapsed.
    • 5 - Review and record results.
  15. Explain Resting Heart Rate and where / how is it measured?
    Resting heart rate is the heart rate when NO WORK (or exercise) is being preformed.

    It is measure at the artery on the neck or wrist. 10 seconds X 6
  16. Where are the skin fold measurements taken? (3 place test)
    • Males - Chest, Abs, Thigh
    • Females - Tricep, suprailium, Thigh
  17. Measuring points and location
    • Body Fat Caliper Measurement Sites - Men
    • Chest - Diagonal fold, midway between upper armpit and nipple
    • Midaxillary - Horizontal fold, directly below armpit
    • Bicep - Vertical fold, halfway between shoulder and elbow, directly on bicep
    • Abdominal - Vertical fold, one inch to the right of navel
    • Suprailiac - Diagonal fold, directly above iliac crest
    • Thigh- Vertical fold, midway between knee cap and top of thigh
    • Calf - Vertical fold, inside of leg on largest part of calf
    • Subscapular - Diagonal fold, directly below shoulder blade
    • Tricep - Vertical fold, midway between elbow and shoulder
    • Lower Back - Horizontal fold, directly over the kidneys, and 2 inches to the right of spine
