    a metal alloy with one of the elements being mercury (Hg)
  2. Dental Amalgam -
    equal parts of powdered metal alloy & liquid mercury

    powedered metal = amalgam alloy, which is predominantly Silver (Ag) & Tin (Sn)
  3. Amalgamation/ Trituration -
    a mixing process of the alloy with the liquid mercury
  4. Amalgamator/Triturator -
    a mechanical device that "shakes" the capsule containing the alloy powder & mercury at high speed; it mixes the 2 components into a mass

    the time needed to condense & carve
  6. Mechanical Retention -
    undercuts & grooves
