Lidocaine

    Antiarrhythmic
  2. Action
    Blocks sodium channels, suppresses depolarizaton in the ventricles
  3. Indications
    Ventricular arrhythmias, when amiodorone is not available
  4. Contraindiations
    AV block, bleeding, known sensitivity to drug, use with caution with bradycardia,hypovolemia,and WPW
  5. Adverse effects
    Nervousness, sinus brady, pain at injection site
  6. Dose Adult
    Pulseless vtach/vfib, 1 to 1.5mg/kg may repeat half original dose every five to ten minutes to a max dose of 3mg/kg

    ET tube 2-10mg/kg diluted 10mls of saline

    perfusing ventricular rhythms .5 to .75mg/kg max dose of 3mg/kg
  7. Dose Pedi
    pulseless vtach/vfib 1mg/kg iv max 100mg

    ET tube 2-3mg/kg with a 5ml flush

    Perfusing ventricular ryhythms, 1mg/kg iv max dose 3mg/kg
